Country Cottage Bed and Breakfast specialize in accommodation for Anglers. We are ¼ mile from some of the best fishing on the river Stour at Fiddleford. We have a drying area for nets & equipment, a fridge for bait and secure storage for kit. Packed lunches are available with notification and a Gilly experienced in the local river is available but must be booked.

We are surrounded by superior lake fishing, all within 6 miles, which are stocked with specimen Carp, Catfish, Tench and many other. All have a fine reputation for top quality fishing.

Local premier lakes include:

Todber Manor - 6 well stocked lakes and an on site tackle and bait shop. On the right is the Paddock specimen lake which opened early April 2004 and has had these records:

Lake record Common - 27lb 14oz
Lake record Mirror - 28lb
Lake record Catfish - 37lb 8oz

Coking farm fishery - Opened in the Spring of 2006 Coking Farm offers quality coarse fishing in 11 acres of water over three lakes set in the heart of the Blackmore Vale. The Woodland Lake to the right has great fish that vary in appearance and scale pattern and are extremely hard fighting.

Revels fishery - The fishery consists of 7 day ticket fishing lakes extensively stocked with coarse fish, 2 local Trout Fly lakes and a further 3 exclusive Coarse lakes, a large on site tackle shop stocked with an extensive range of equipment.

 

The River Stour
The river Stour is within ¼ of a mile from Country Cottage and the local angling club offers a wide range of fishing on 18 miles of water with day, weekly and season tickets available. The river runs through 3 mill ponds locally, offering wide stretches that are up to 18ft deep and holding shoals of Bream, and shallow gravel runs and weed beds popular with Chub. Many specimen fish have been caught in the local waters and a quick look at www.s-haa.co.uk web site will confirm this.

Fishing permits are available from several local outlets including The Bull Tavern, Marshes electrical,Todber Manor Fisheries, Candy's News Agents all in Sturminster Newton and Conyers Gun & Tackle Shop in Blandford Forum. The Sturminster and Hinton Angling Association have 350 + members and have an active restocking policy.

We are within an hours drive of the Royalty water of Christchurch

Country Cottage offer a pick up and drop off service at Gillingham and Sherborne railway station and we are 200mts from our local pub The Fiddleford Inn where great food and good beer can be enjoyed in friendly surroundings. Bookings of 3 to 6 nights will receive a 10% discount. Longer stays can be negotiated. We look forward to seeing you!
