Local attractions

There are many things to do within easy reach of Country Cottage Bed and Breakfast. These include:

• The Great Dorset Steam Fair (Wed 30th Aug to Sun 3rd Sept) and many smaller steam events.
• The Fiddleford Inn with its famous Boogie Woogie nights every Friday .
• The Jurassic Coast of Dorset.
• Monkey World (where the television program is made).
• The Tank Museum at Bovington.
• Stour head Gardens.
• Kingston Lacy House and gardens
• Longleat House and the Safari Park. (The famous lions of Longleat).
• Open air Musicale Suarez at Rushmore.
• Sherborne Abbey and its Castles.
• Dorchester our county town with its many attractions and of course Thomas Hardy and William Barns our own Dorset poets.
• Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton.
• Many fine golf courses within half an hours drive. Sherborne GC; Ashley wood GC; Rushmoor GC and for the less adventurous there is Folk GC which is reasonably challenging but flat.
• Pool, Bournemouth, Weymouth and the New forest are within in an hours drive.
• We have some fine course fishing on the Stour within ½ mile. We are also in the middle of some of the finest game shoots and stalking in the country.

Packed lunches can be provided with prior notice or you could visit one of our excellent local pubs which serve real ales and good food. The Bull Inn (below) is a 15 Century thatched pub that is near Sturminister and always has a warm welcome.
